One of the heraldic artists in the Court of the Lord Lyon in Edinburgh for over 25 years, writing and handpainting Grants and Matriculations of Arms' documents for the Lyon Office in Scotland. These Armorial Bearings are legal documents and serve as proof that only the bearers may use the heraldry depicted with all newly-registered Arms handpainted onto the corresponding pages within the Lyon Register, which is held in the Court of the Lord Lyon at HM New Register House in Edinburgh.
The Court of the Lord Lyon is the oldest Heraldic Office in the world with the Lyon Register containing the first depictions of Arms dating from 1672 up to present day, and in that is a living manuscript of the history of heraldry in use in Scotland.
In addition to working on heraldic documents, I design, draw and paint sketches in black and white or colour as designs for proposed Armorial Bearings or 'Coats of Arms'.
I also design and paint Library Paintings of existing Armorial Bearings, past and present.
